We took advantage of the two HGV France properties and scheduled a two week vacation, one week in Paris (stayed at HGV Royal Regency Vincennes), and the second week here at Le Club Mougins. We had been to the Nice area before on a previous Med Cruise and wanted to explore more of the surrounding villages. This review captures our experiences with the resort and location. Positives: 1) The staff at the resort were very professional and helpful. They provided us very beneficial recommendations and local information as we needed. 2) Being able to order pastries from a local bakery for the morning was a great option. 3) The location was close to town (and the old town) to be able to walk to restaurants, grocery stores, and additional shops. The town is very hilly so if you walk expect to get a cardio workout :) 4) The one bedroom unit had AC available which was more than what we had in Paris. This is nice to know had it been during warmer days. 5) Driving around the area was very easy to navigate, are only learning was to make sure you notice the public parking in some of the small villages you visit before driving into the town. The streets can became quite narrow and you may want to evaluate proceeding too far before you realize you should be walking first. 6) There were some nice features in the 1 bedroom unit, like towel heating rack in the bathroom, and large patios to sit outside on. We found the unit to be quiet. Some deltas 1) The unit and resort facility is very dated and less that what you expect with a HGV brand property. 2) We noticed that if we walked on the tile floors barefoot that when you stepped in the shower the bottom of your feet had turned black. We don't think the cleaning of the unit considered washing the floors. 3) Like the Paris location, the unit had things you expect to find, like face clothes to wash with (just towels), or providing conditioner versus just liquid soap in the shower. 4) Since the town was close by to walk to restaurants in the evening, we noticed there were no street lights working on the small road leading up to the resort entrance. It was 50/50 if the street lights turned on once you entered the resort after the gated entrance. This is a real safety issue since there are no sidewalks to use. 5) The furniture in the unit was pretty uncomfortable and reminded us of college dormitory set-up versus a hotel. 6) On the last day there, we had a thunderstorm come through during the night and woke up to find significant amount of water had leaked onto the floor in front of the door in the bedroom leading to outside patio. This water had come in contact with a suitcase on the floor so we had to deal with that. We reported the issue during our checkout, and the staff stated they would have maintenance check it out, but we can't imagine this had not come up before. Overall we enjoyed our stay and loved exploring the area and taking in the local culture and scenery. We hope that HGV invests into some updates
